On Thursday, June 6, you will be able to vote in the European Parliament elections. This can be done from 7.30am to 9.00pm. You are allowed to vote at any polling station in Losser.

Polling card

The polling card will be delivered to your home address before May 23. You will receive a polling card if you:

  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Reside in Losser on April 23
  • Are Dutch or have the nationality of another country in the European Union
  • Are not excluded from voting rights

If you have not received a polling card, or if you have lost your polling card, you can request a replacement polling card at the counter of the municipal office. This can be done until 12.00pm on June 5. You do not need to make an appointment.

Voting in another municipality

With your polling card, you can vote in Losser. If you want to vote in another municipality in the Netherlands, you will need a voting pass. You can request a voting pass at the counter of the municipal office. This can be done until 12.00pm on June 5. You do not need to make an appointment. If you request a voting pass, your polling card will no longer be valid.

Valid identification

You may vote if your passport, ID card, or driving license is valid until at least June 7, 2019. If your Dutch passport, ID card, or driving license is stolen, you can request a declaration of loss. If you have documentation from another country, please ask the police for a declaration of loss and follow the instructions of your local authorities when applying for a new passport or ID card. With the declaration of loss, you can vote. Please also bring an alternate identification document with your name and photo on it, such as an OV-chipcard.

You will need to bring a few things:

  • Your passport, ID card, or driving license
  • Your polling card
  • Optionally, a declaration of loss and a document with your name and photo on it, such as an OV-chipcard

  • You can vote at any polling station in Losser
  • All polling stations are easily accessible and user-friendly
  • Each polling station has a disabled parking space
  • Each polling station has a magnifying glass with additional lighting

Polling station with accessibility aids

Maartens-Stede & Oldenhove, Lutterstraat 4 in Losser is designed specifically to make voting easily accessible to everyone. The following aids are available:

  • A voting template with tactile numbers and Braille that can be placed over the ballot paper
  • A voting booth that reads out which parties and candidates are on the ballot paper
  • A remote interpreter, which can be either a sign language interpreter or a written interpreter
  • A communication station that transmits the voice of a polling station staff member to your hearing aid or headphones

Having someone else vote for you

If you cannot or do not want to come to a polling station yourself, you can ask someone else to vote on your behalf. This is called voting by proxy. To simplify this process, please fill in the back of your polling card. You must also sign it. Please provide a copy of your passport, ID card, or driving license. There are a few rules. The person voting on your behalf:

  • Must cast their own vote at the same time
  • Can vote on behalf of a maximum of 2 other people

Counting votes

On Thursday, June 6, after 9.00pm, polling station members will start counting all the votes. This will take place at the polling station itself. On Friday, June 7, after 8.00am, the municipal polling station will verify the combined results of all polling stations. This will happen at the Diekmanhal (J.J. van Deinselaan 22) in Enschede.

You are allowed to observe the counting of the votes.
